Find the Experts To Help You

When it comes to improving or growing a small business, many people don’t know where to start to find people to help. Business owners can be overwhelmed with day-to-day issues or maybe too close to their product or service to know exactly what they need. Business consultants and/or coaches can help you. They can help with any part of your business, alleviating stress and freeing up time for you to focus on the bigger picture.

The Phoenix Suns made it to the NBA playoffs for the first time in 28 years. Olympic athletes from the U.S. brought home 113 medals. How did these athletes achieve so much? They found the experts – their coaches, accountability partners, and fellow athletes. You can do the same for your business. But how do you find the experts?

When you find the experts, you can change the trajectory of your business.

  • Consultants identify areas where there is room for improvement and opportunity for growth.
  • Coaches help and guide you to get there.
  • Accountability partners make sure your plan happens.
  • Mastermind group members share their best ideas, and you can learn from each other.
  • Productivity coaches make sure you are not just busy and are making good use of time.

Each of these people plays an important role in your professional development. They can guide you to the next big goal you’ve set, just like the Suns and Olympic athletes. Getting an outside perspective can be eye-opening.

How do you find the experts?

There are many ways to find the experts you need to help you in your business. Identify what area you’d like to focus on in your business, perhaps where you feel you have a weakness, and get a coach that specializes in that. Then you can start by asking for referrals from your network.

LinkedIn and other social media sites are filled with experts. If you go this route, look for testimonials on their websites and LinkedIn recommendations. You might want to search for someone who has been a small business owner before. They would have had the hands-on experience to help you.

Also, you need to find someone who is available when you need them. Make sure they have time to take your business on. Then find out how you will be charged – Hourly? Monthly? Project-based? Remember you are hiring them for their expertise.

Lastly, go with an expert whom you feel the most comfortable with. You need to be able to trust them. So, rapport is a huge factor in choosing the right person to help you.
